Supporting #AccelerateAction for International Women’s Day 2025

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is ‘Accelerate Action’, emphasising the need to take swift and decisive steps to achieve gender equality and speed up the rate of progress for women worldwide.
In recognition of this theme en of International Women’s Day on de 8th March, we would like to highlight Sally Whittaker in onze Group Health en Safety Team.
Sally is based at Skelmersdale but travels to all Flowtech and Thorite sites across the entire business in her role and has had quite the career journey since joining Flowtech as an apprentice when she was 17, showing that hard work and dedication really does pay off.

Sally heeft recently been promoted to Group Health en Safety Business Partner en Wellbeing Team Leader en is now responsible voor de mental health first aiders en wellbeing in Flowtech.
She zal be working to create a safer, healthier en more supportive workplace – ensuring that both compliance en employee wellbeing zijn a top priority.
With the achievement of a recent NEBOSH certification and the experience she has gained over the past 4 years working as Group Health and Safety Coordinator, she is well-equipped to contribute to creating safer workplaces and advancing in her professional journey.
Wij sat down met her recently to ask her a few questions about her individual journey en what advice she would give to those women who want to accelerate their careers in de fluid power industry.
How hebben you found working at Flowtech?
Working at Flowtech has been a game-changer for my career. I started as a Supply Chain Apprentice, where I built a strong foundation in operations. From there, I transitioned into a Health & Safety Coordinator role, which sparked my passion for workplace safety.
What else hebben you achieved since being met de business?
With Flowtech’s support, I achieved my NEBOSH General Certificate, giving me de knowledge en confidence to take on greater responsibilities.
What is de current focus in uw role?
Now, as a Health & Safety Business Partner en Wellbeing Team Leader, I'm focused on improving safety culture, enhancing wellbeing initiatives, en making a real impact across de business.
How would you summarise uw journey en what advice would you give to women looking to accelerate their careers?
The journey heeft been challenging, rewarding, en full of growth—proof that met de right support en opportunities, progress is always within reach.
